I am the founder and director of XperTeatro, a theater distribution project
based in Madrid aiming at fostering Spanish theatrical productions abroad
and foreign productions in Spain.

With the productions I am currently representing, we were planning to
travel outside Europe and apply for Drama Festivals in the US and Mexico
and one of our main goal was submitting an application for the Chamizal
Theater Festival , for being such a unique theatrical showcase experience.

Among the several productions I am collaborating with at the moment there
are two Baroque Theater projects I think could meet the requirements and
expectations of the Siglo de Oro Drama Festival:

   -

*Teatro Inverso “*Rosaura”- adaptation of Calderon de La Barca’s *La
   vida es sueno*
   -

*LaFinea Teatro* “La boba para los otros y discreta para sí” by Lope de
Vega and/or “Muerte del Apetito” by Sor Marcela de San Félix (daughter
   of Lope de Vega).

a) *Teatro Inverso “*Rosaura”- adaptation of Calderon de La Barca’s *La
vida es sueno *

*Rosaura* is a contemporary adaptation of the play 'Life is a Dream' by
Calderón de la Barca. The piece aims to promote and encourage Spanish
culture through a new and vibrant interpretation of the Spanish Golden Age
Classic. Drawing upon Calderon’s play, two actresses approach the play from
the point of view of Rosaura, one of the most important female characters
of the Spanish Golden Age.

This production has already participated in different theater festivals in
England and Spain and has been warmly welcomed by acclaimed by critics (for
instance the Guardian in the UK) for the fresh adaptation of the classical
texts creating a contemporary and accessible language through storytelling
and viewpoints acting techniques.

*This play **casts only two actresses and a production coordinator, it **can
be performed in any kind of venue (**black-box**, Italian **theater** and
even outdoor) and it can be **played fully in English with some original
Calderon’s Verses in Spanish or in Spanish with some interactions in
English.*

Please find attached a presentation of *Rosaura* and press releases along

*b**) **La Finea Teatro* “Muerte del Apetito” by Sor Marcela de San
Félix (daughter
of Lope de Vega).

*Muerte del apetito* is an extremely exquisite journey back to the mostly
unknown Spanish Golden Age Monastery theater through which the audience
will have the chance to discover the poetic work of Lope de Vega’s daughter
Sor Marcela de San Félix. The production is Baroque feast that beautifully
combines religious music and rituals with Siglo de Oro poetry.

*This show **has **4 actresses, a director and two production people. *

*This play can be performed only in Spanish and in any kind of indoor
venue, a church or old looking setting will be awesome!*Please find

The same company staged for different Classical Theater Festivals (like
Olmedo and Almagro) another interesting Lope’s play *“La boba para los
otros y discreta para sí” by **Lope de Vega *revisited and versioned by Rebeca
Sanz-Conde.

it is a rather unknown play by Lope which focuses on the role of women in
the Golden Age. The action is set forward to the 50’s In Italy but it is
very close to Lope’s drama and it wonderfully mingles live music and
baroque verse.

*This show **include** 8** actresses, a director, **3 musician and at least
**two production people. **This play can be performed only in Spanish and
in any kind of indoor venue.*

As you could see the three plays share some *common features* :

   -

they need relatively* little and easy staging*.
   -

*few actors *so less travel expenses (except Lope’s play)
   -

give voice to *Golden Age women universe* mostly unknown
   -

mix *contemporary drama and baroque verse *attracting a wider audience
   -

have already *performed in festivals in Spain and abroad*

Both companies will be glad to perform both in the States and in Mexico as
I have seen that the Festival has some dates on te other side of the
border.

I hope I gave you sufficient information to start considering these plays
with Festival board and of course I stay at your entire disposal for any
further information or question about these productions.

For your information, I worked for the Almagro Festival so if there is any
other show on their web-page http://www.festivaldealmagro.com/ you would
like to bring to the Festival or for any other event I could easily put you
in contact with them,

Many thanks in advance for your your time and passion for *Siglo de Oro*,

Best regards,

Lorenzo Pappagallo
