I agree with Ian’s ask, as “pequeños apoyos de carácter logístico por parte de los ‘anfitriones’” is vague and subjective. I am happy to brainstorm with anybody looking to make this happen. In the meantime, am I right to read Rodrigo’s vague reference to mean that we would basically need to cover the costs of housing and feeding them on our campuses, plus perhaps any fees to use a performance venue on campus? That would explain his vagueness—they’re costs that we would be able to estimate better than he. It would also make sense to focus on the California/Southwest region, to build an itinerary around LA Escena that could avoid airfare.

Dear AHCT colleagues,

Rodrigo Arribas (of the Fundación Siglo de Oro) recently contacted me regarding the following proposal (see below).  Basically, they have received some funding from the Spanish government and want to try to arrange a tour of the US involving universities with which we are affiliated.  In speaking with Rodrigo via Skype regarding this proposal, it is clear that he wants to try to be in Los Angeles for Barbara Fuchs's LA Escena festival in October of 2020, but he would then like to tour a few other locations while he is still in the US.  Ideally, a handful of universities in specific regions could cooperate to provide the "pequeños apoyos" that he anticipates that he will need.

Also, he would like to at least have an idea of potentially interested universities by early December.

If any of you might be interested in trying to involve your universities in this proposal, please let me know (although it would probably help for you to touch base with regional colleagues and then respond as a group).

Dime un día de las semana que viene que te venga bien y tratamos de concertar un SKYPE.

En todo caso te pongo en antecedentes:

Hemos recibido noticas de que seremos apoyados con algunos fondos para promoción exterior el año que viene, 2020 ,  y querríamos tratar de sacar adelante con vuestra colaboración, intentaré también hablar con Barbara, a la que pongo en copia,  en este sentido con la idea de empezar en su festival en octubre, una gira por algunas de las Universidades que cuenten en sus claustros con miembros de vuestra Asociación.

La idea sería la de viajar con el espectáculo "El Lazarillo" de Albacity que ha sido un éxito en Almagro y también en nuestro Festival, y con "Valor, Agravio y Mujer" de Ana Caro, producción nuestra.

La mayor parte del gasto, como ocurrió en la gira que se organizan con "Entre Marta y Lope", correría por nuestra cuenta y por cuenta de la institución pública española, requiriendo pequeños apoyos de carácter logístico por parte de los "anfitriones".

Sobretitularíamos al inglés.

Sería estupendo, además de los encuentros con el publico, poder fomentar "talleres" sobre la interpretación y el verso del Siglo de Oro impartidos por los actores y actrices de ambos espectáculos.

Hablamos al respecto…..
