Superintendent F. Gus S?nchez is pleased to announce that the National Park
Service at Chamizal National Memorial in El Paso, Texas, will be presenting
the Siglo de Oro Drama Festival from April 15-18, 2020 and the Border
Culture Theater Festival from April 22-25, 2020. These festivals bridge the
Siglo de Oro period of theater to the Chicano and contemporary drama that
is deeply rooted in today?s borderland culture around Chamizal National
Memorial. We would like to invite your company to submit a proposal for
either a Spanish Golden Age performance or a modern piece related to
Mexican-American themes the Festival.

If you are available and interested, please submit a thorough proposal
according to the guidance in the attached Call for Proposals.

Please note that in order to contract with Chamizal National Memorial as a
U.S. Federal Government agency and receive payment for services
provided, *companies
must be able to register in the following systems:* Data Universal
Numbering System (DUNS) from Dun & Bradstreet, NATO CAGE (NCAGE, Commercial
and Governmental Entity) Number, and United States Federal Government?s
System for Award Management (SAM). I encourage you to become familiar with

AHCT Symposium in Almagro, Spain, July 7-9, 2020

Submission deadline: November 1, 2019



The Association for Hispanic Classical Theater invites submissions for a
symposium taking place in tandem with The Almagro International Classical
Theatre Festival in July 2020. Check the

details on the symposium, conference fees, registration, lodging and
programming. This conference will promote dialogue between scholars and
theater practitioners in order to bridge the traditionally-perceived divide
between disciplines. Participants will:

   - study new ways of adapting the * comedia*
   - promote and expand collaborations between scholars and theater
   practitioners
   - discuss how to disseminate the study of the *comedia* through
   innovative approaches
   - build bridges among disciplines and collaborate on interdisciplinary
   projects



Panels will be organized as workshops and working groups. Sessions will not
overlap, giving participants the opportunity to attend all presentations.
Presentations should be delivered in Spanish or English. *See the attached
call for papers for details on workshop and working group themes.*



*Submission of proposals:*

   - Workshop proposals should submit a single, 500-word description and
   include short bios for each of the participants. Workshops should consist
   of faculty and/or theater practitioners. Graduate students are welcome to
   submit as a part of a working group (see below).
   - Abstracts should not exceed 300 words for Working Group participants,
   including name and institutional affiliation. For Working Groups, graduate
   students must submit entire paper along with their abstract.
   - To submit an abstract, visit: https://forms.gle/xEKGneyZx1Mh2pFa8 and
   fill out an abstract submission form.
   - The deadline for receipt of all submissions (abstracts and graduate
   student papers) is *November 1, 2019*.



Please note that space is limited and all submissions will be
peer-reviewed. The committee will notify participants of their
decision by *January
30, 2020*. The conference committee will facilitate purchasing of tickets
for the performances at a special discounted price. Conference presenters
must be members of The Association for Hispanic Classical Theater.

The Association for Hispanic Classical Theater invites submissions for its
2020 Symposium. The conference dates coincide with the world?s
longest-running Spanish Golden Age theater festival, the *Siglo de Oro*
Drama Festival at the Chamizal National Memorial, April 15-18, 2020. The
AHCT provides conference attendees tickets and transportation to and from
the Chamizal each evening to attend the plays. The Association encourages
studies on performance aspects of *Siglo de Oro* plays, though proposals
for papers or special sessions on other topics related to Spanish Golden
Age theater are welcome.

This year, we are particularly interested in proposals from faculty and
experienced theater practitioners for Friday's new format, which will
feature 10-minute, hot topic position papers on performance issues,
including, but not limited to: the stage life of props and costumes,
puppetry and masks, violence and combat, acting challenges and famous
players, and producers and the business of staging *comedias*. Submitters
of abstracts of 10-minute position papers should be sure to click the
option indicating 10-minute paper on the Abstract Submission Form, and must
be able to give their papers on Friday, April 17. Participants may submit
for one format only, not both. The deadline for receipt of all submissions
(abstracts and graduate student papers) is* September 1, 2019. *Visit the
