[Comedias] time sensitive! call for nominations

Dear AHCT Members,


The Board of Directors of the Association for Hispanic Classical Theater 
has called a snap election for _*President Elect*_. We are actively 
soliciting candidates for the position, and have abbreviated the normal 
nominating period from 3 weeks to 2 in the hope that we can complete the 
process before vacations begin. We encourage your active participation 
now. Nominations must be received by May 9, 2017.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The President Elect will take over the duties of the President on 
January 1, 2019. In the interim, from January 1 to December 31, 2018, 
the President Elect will assist the President as appropriate with the 
goal of familiarization with the main duties of the office:


        *Furthering the mission of the AHCT and seeking opportunities to 
do so, such as

                establishing new working groups, committees, 
partnerships, and initiatives;

        *Contracting with publishers of 'Comedia Performance' and 
liaising with the editor;

        *Overseeing and assisting the officers (Vice President for 
Membership and Registration,

                Vice President for Annual Conference, Treasurer, 
Secretary) as appropriate;

        *Securing the Dietz Plenary speaker;

        *Overseeing and assisting the Board of Directors and their 
respective committees

                as appropriate;

        *Maintaining communication with the officers and the board and 
soliciting their input

                as issues arise;

        *Conducting the annual meetings of the officers, the Board of 
Directors, and

                the general membership in El Paso;

        *Overseeing and assisting with nominations and elections

                of officers and board members;

        *Serving as the public face of the AHCT in collaborative 
relationships such as

                the Paisanos de El Chamizal and the Fundación Siglo de 
Oro (Spain);

        *Communicating with and overseeing the AHCT web presence;

        *Securing tickets to the Chamizal festival for Symposium attendees.
