UCLA, Director of the UCLA Working Group on the Comedia in Translation and
Performance and founder of Diversifying the Classics, a project working to
foster the awareness and appreciation of Hispanic classical theater in Los

The conference dates coincide with the *Siglo de Oro* Spanish Theater
Festival at the Chamizal National Memorial Theater, April 19–22, 2017. The
Association for Hispanic Classical Theater encourages studies on
performance aspects of *Siglo de Oro* dramatic texts, though proposals for
papers or special sessions on other topics related to Spanish Golden Age
theater are also welcome. Papers should be twenty minutes in length, and
may be delivered in either Spanish or English. To submit an abstract, visit

If you are a graduate student, after submitting your abstract, please also
send your completed ten-page paper in Word to gradsubmissions at comedias.org.
This applies to all students, including those who have been invited to be
members of panels, whether organized by faculty members or others. Graduate
students whose papers are accepted for presentation will be considered for
the AHCT Everett W. Hesse Travel Grant. Participants that will be using the
projector for their presentations should plan on bringing their own
laptops. No VCR or DVD players will be available at the conference;
presenters using video should plan on showing them in digital form. *The
new extended deadline for receipt of all submissions (abstracts and
graduate student papers) is October 1, 2016.*
