Call For Papers

The State of the Comedia Suelta: Celebrating the Texas Collections

University of Texas at Austin

September 29-30, 2014

 

The Texas Collection of Spanish Comedias Sueltas and Spanish Theater at the
Harry Ransom Center at the University of Texas at Austin contains
approximately 15,000 titles spanning over three centuries. This conference
will bring together scholars in various fields to share their work and to
celebrate the completion of the cataloging of the UT collection and the
approximately 500 titles heldin the Cushing Memorial Library at Texas A&M
University.  The cataloging has been funded by the Council on Library and
Information Resources (CLIR), Cataloging Hidden Special Collections and
Archives.

 

We welcome 20 minute papers from researchers in a variety of fields
including but not limited to Hispanic literature and culture, history of the
book, music, theater, bibliography, conservation, library science, etc.

 

Papers focusing on specific writers and/or works represented in the
collection are particularly welcome.

 

Please send abstracts (not to exceed 350 words) to: sueltas2014 at gmail.com

 

 

 

Although the catalog will not be complete until the end of the spring of
2014, a beta version of the database can be accessed here:
http://research.hrc.utexas.edu/sueltas/

and those wishing to present papers are encouraged to consult it.
