[Comedias] New Tirso Translation features AHCT members

Comedia fans:

At 7 p.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2011, in Chicago's Palmer House Hilton hotel, members of AHCT and ATHE (the Association for Theatre in Higher Education) will collaborate to present the English-language premiere of Tirso's El amor medico.

Translated as Love the Doctor by Sarah Brew and Josephine Harman (at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst) and directed by Gina Kaufmann (who directed that university's production of Marta the Divine), the new script will debut in a public reading supported by a dramaturgical introduction and talkback.

A staged production of the translation is slated for University of Massachusetts-Amherst in the fall.
