Hello, colleagues and friends!

We would like to announce two job openings in SPANISH at the University of
Puget Sound. Both positions are 3-YR Visiting Assistant Professorships. As
noted below, one is tailored for a Peninsularist and the other for a Latin
Americanist.

We are an eminently cordial group of teacher scholars, in the Spanish
Program, four of which are tenured or tenure-track. Aside from many smaller
activities, every year we organize a local colloquium named SPANISH MATTERS.
Currently, we are starting conversations with other colleagues in the region
in the hope that SPANISH MATTERS will become a full fledged regional
conference in due course.

The University of Puget Sound is located just south of Seattle, in the North
End of Tacoma. Consistently ranked as one of the most livable areas in the
country, the city and the region have lots to offer from a renowned opera
house, a thriving theater scene, and numerous outdoor activities to cutting
edge popular culture and a long established culture of political activism.

Please share these announcements with your students and other interested
parties.

Although all inquires should be addressed to our Human Resources Dept., my
colleagues and I welcome questions via email:

Mark Harpring - Associate Professor of Spanish - mharpring at ups.edu
Pepa Lago Graña, FLL Professor and Chair - jlago at ups.edu
Brendan Lanctot - Assistant Professor of Spanish - blanctot at ups.edu
Harry Vélez Quiñones - Professor of Hispanic Studies - velez at ups.edu

Best,

Harry
