In Memory of Daniel Heiple: AHCT colleague, Dan Heiple, passed away in August 1999. Dan was professor of Golden Age Spanish literature at Tulane University since 1977. He held degrees from University of Oregon, New York University, and University of Texas. Those who knew Dan remember, in addition to his scholarship, his quiet smile and his gentle manner. His department chair at Tulane, Professor Maureen Shea, has described Dan eloquently: "Professor Dan Heiple was an unassuming yet brilliant scholar with an original approach to and impressive publications in the field of Golden Age literature; his love for Spanish literature, music and culture, especially in the baroque period, was well known and appreciated. He was also a conscientious, gentle, and kindhearted colleague, with a warm sense of humor and a ready laugh." Donations to the Daniel L. Heiple scholarship fund may be sent to the Tulane Office of Development, Gift Accounting, 3439 Prytania St., Suite 200, New Orleans, LA 70115. ***
